VEGETATION ECOLOGY OF THE PARQUE FLORESTAL QUEDAS DO RIO BONITO, BRAZIL
Main Article Content
Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to classify, describe, and map the vegetation physiognomies of the Quedas do Rio Bonito Forest Park, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, using an interpretative approach, associating vegetational and environmental variations. Five vegetation physiognomies were recognised: montane forest, elfin forest, ‘cerrado’, montane grassland, and rocky montane grassland. The distribution of these physiognomies on the landscape follows basically the conjunction of two main factors: the soil water regime and the frequency of fire.
