Abstract

This study quantified basic wood density along 14 years-old Pinus oocarpa Schiede ex Schltdl. planted at the Federal University of Lavras, Lavras - MG. Basic density of the wood disks was determined by the maximum humidity method and the tree mean density by the weighted mean method. It was concluded that: a) the basic mean density of Pinus oocarpa wood is 0,446 g/cm³; b) basic density decrescens with height in Pinus oocarpa; c) the best positions to sample the mean density is that at 50% of the commercial lengh followed by the DBH position.
