PHENOLOGY AND INITIAL GROWTH OF Tectona grandis L. F (TECA) IN LAVRAS – MG
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper analyzed the dynamics of initial growth and the main phenologic events of Tectona grandis L. f (Teak) in Lavras – MG. The evolution of the phenologic events of caducifoly, leafing and side sprouting emission 13 months after planting were determined. Also, analysis of the initial growth dynamics of the teak in height , coleto diameter at 20 cm high and their respective increases till 28 months after planting weighing the climatic variations preponderant in the region were also accomplished. Teak trees showed distinct phenologic states and characteristic growth rhythms related with the region’s climatic variations. The teak presents potential of adaptation and establishment in Lavras (with 100% of survival). It was also defined Its potential of utilization in agroforestry mixtures and the most adequate periods for the accomplishment of silvicultural practices of leaf-cutting ant control, invading plant control, shoot-removing operations and dressing fertilization.
