Abstract
According to the diversity observed in the forest key industry in the State of Minas Gerais, this study identified the different types of companies that compose this economic sector, starting from the productive chain of industrial wood. It was verified that these companies present slow speed of change in the productive process with participation in consortium, local productive arrangements, below the desirable and that most of the revenue of the organizations is associated to a only one product that is sold to a main customer. The partnerships and the service installments stands out among the tools used to focus the main competences.
