EFFICIENCY AND CONTROL COSTS OF NESTS OF Atta spp. (HYMENOPTERA: FORMICIDAE) WITH THERMONEBULIZATION
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research was conduct in eucalyptus stand of the Celulose Nipo-Brasileira S.A. to compare the efficiency and the application cost of the thermonebuligeneous Tatu-fog and Dursban (clorpiriphos) and Dragnet (permethrin), applied with the fogging equipments Multifog 2000 and Pulsfog K-10, in nests of Atta spp. The efficiency was evaluated after 90 days of application of these products. The Tatu-fog presented better efficiency (75%) and the second lower initial control costs (R$0.1748/m2 per nest with the Pulsfog K-10 and R$0.1418/m2 with the Multifog 2000). The Dragnet presented lower efficiency (22%) and higher total control costs (R$7.0647/m2 per nest). The products tested presented similar efficiency with the fogging equipments Multifog 2000 and Pulsfog K-10 but this last one presented lower total control costs (R$0.3793/m2 per nest).
