FOREST EXPANSION TRHOUG FOMENTATION IN THE SECOND PARANÁ PLATAEAU: AN APPROACH TROUGH PARTNERS OF PRIVATE FOMENTATION PROGRAMS IN PARANÁ STATE

Abstract
This study identified the forest expansion partners propensity to remain in the fomentation programs taking into account the agrarian structure of the rural properties. The studied region is situated on the second paranaense plateau, and includes the cities of Telêmaco Borba, Ventania, Curiúva, São Jerônimo da Serra, Figueira, Sapopema, Tibagi, Reserva, Ortigueira and Imbaú. The data gathering was carried out by application of 249 questionnaires, distributed at random. The use of the resources, access to technical assistency and propensity to remain in the forest activity were the main variables researched. It was concluded that the producers with smaller areas present greater dependence of fomentation programs and are the ones who have less access to technical assistency. On the other hand, larger land owners present smaller propensity to remain in the fomentation programs, probably because they have major access to capital and technology to develop forest activities.
