Abstract

This work analyzed the diameter distribution of the trees in a semi-deciduous seasonal forest fragment, at the Ecomuseum of Cerrado area, localized in Pirenópolis county, State of Goias. Ten 20 x 20 m plots were established for the dendrometric studies. All trees with DBH ≥ 5 cm were included in the survey. 25 species with ten or more individuals were also studied. For the total population (742 trees) and for the 25 species the diameter class was structured with 2.5 cm, 549 sampled trees were concentrated in diameters classes lower of 30 cm. This showed that this forest has a high potential for natural succession. Two models were observed between the individual’s distribution, the typical reverted “J”, described frequently in the literature and the Gaussian curve, close to the normal distribution.
