Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this work was to evaluate the composition and structure of the woody community in the Cerrado stricto sensu fragments, located in Carolina County, in the State of Maranhão. The survey was carried out with ten parcels of 20x50 m (1000m2 ). All individuals showing diameters ≥ 5cm at 30cm above ground level were recorded. A total of 542 individuals, 53 species, 45 genus and 25 plant families were recorded. The species Byrsonima crassa, Curatella americana, Callisthene fasciculata, Qualea parviflora, Salvertia convallariaeodora, Hirtella ciliata and Qualea grandiflora reached 49.89% of the total VI. The Shannon diversity index showed values of H’ = 3,04 with evenness (J’) = 0,77. The results were similar to other surveys near to the study site and the floristic composition is typical of the northeast phytogeographic province. Species typical from northeast Cerrado lato sensu were recorded such as Hirtella ciliata, Platonia insignis and Caryocar coriaceum.
